Understanding Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer

A research project done in the 1950’s by the American Cancer Society shows how it is cancer and tumors are able to develop in a body. Over a period of several years a large group of rabbits were swabbed daily on the ears with nicotine.   Every few months they checked several of the rabbits to see what was happening inside.  Here is what they found.

No tumors or cancer appeared until the eliminative organs were degraded to the point they were unable to properly remove waste from the system.  The real key here is the fact that before any form of cancer or tumors appeared in any rabbit it was observed that the internal elimination organs were greatly compromised.

Try to get your mind around this proven fact: Developing tumors or cancer is only a symptom pointing to the need to rebuild the eliminative organs in the body.  The liver, kidneys, digestive system ect… are all in need of serious rebuilding. The cancer or tumor is not the issue, only a symptom of a degraded internal system.

Cutting out the cancer or tumor will not clear the issue from the body.  Not until the internal elimination organs have been rebuilt and are able once again to properly remove waste can a body be truly free from cancer.   One of the Late Dr. Christopher’s favorite sayings was, “cleanse & feed”. You must cleanse out the waste while feeding and rebuilding the system. This is where the entire Incurables Program proves valuable.

Herbal Support for the Kidneys

Kidney in body

Kidney issues seem to have always been a part of my life.  As a child my parents neglect to properly care for my infected Kidneys resulted in serious damage to my entire renal system.  A painful infection was allowed to go unchecked until my high fever forced a family friend to take me to the emergency room.

Until being introduced to herbs and natural healing in the early 1990’s doctor proscribed antibiotics was a regular part of my life.  Since discovering the healing power of herbs I have taken no proscribed drugs for infection.  Combining the infection fighting herbs into Herbal Extracts for my infections has proven effective every time they have been used.

Another Natural Healing Tool

The “Herbal Fomentation” introduces healing herbs directly into the affected area by applying hot towels soaked in a concentration herbal tea.  These hot towels are then applied over the damaged or sick area, covered with plastic and heavy blankets to keep the heat in.  The packs must be changed as they cool.  Fomentations are an excellent way of introducing the healing herbs but way to messy and time consuming.  Few people will set up and use these vital applications.

Hassle FREE Fomentations

We have learned to make use of another powerful natural healing tool, the Salve.

Salves are a way of introducing herbs right into the affected area of the body.  Depending on the issue and salve being used they can be massaged into the area or applied as a flannel pack over the affected area.  When packing the salve cover with plastic wrap, a towel and a moist heating pad for dramatic results on many conditions.

This week we are developing a new salve for use with chronic or inflamed kidney conditions.  This Salve can be applied to flannel and placed directly over the kidneys.  The herbs in this formula promote urine production and support the health of the kidney.

Kidney Salve Combination: Parsley Root, Juniper Berries, Marshmallow Root, Ginger Root and Burdock Root.

Dr. John R. Christopher provides an excellent understanding of what the Kidney’s really do:

“The duties of the kidneys are best described by calling them the filters of the blood.

“Your blood flows constantly through your kidneys to be purified or filtered. You might be surprised to learn that more than 500 grains of waste matter, acids and poisons have to be moved from the blood through the kidneys every 24 hours.  You can easily see, therefore, that on this filtering and eliminating depends your health to a very great extent. Let the kidneys fail to function properly and nature will call your attention to it right away.

“You will feel depressed and tired, restless at night, and pains in the back will show up. There might be scanty urine or a desire to urinate frequently. Your head will ache and many other aches and pains will be making their appearance.

“You really cannot be surprised that you do not feel well.

“Just figure your kidneys would do only half the work and eliminate only 250 grains of waste, what will become of the other 250 grains? They will be carried back into your blood and poison your system.

“Watch, therefore, your kidneys and deal with even minor irregularity promptly.

“To avoid trouble be careful with your diet.

“Americans consume daily 80 grs. of meat or nearly 3 ounces more of protein-thus attempting to dispose of about 35 grams more than we have capacity for. This overload gradually smashes the kidneys and throws them out of commission.

“Our kidneys cannot talk; they just have to stay mum until a hundred and one bodily disorders start us looking around for some mysterious cause of serious trouble. Then, as a rule, it is too late to apologize to the kidneys.”

“HERBAL FIRST AID”

An emergency kit can be purchased from a well-equipped pharmacy.  The kit will come with some unnatural and poisonous–sometimes habit-forming materials that will give temporary relief, but will not go to the cause.   Today we will offer Natural Herbal suggestions for emergency problems, which will give relief at the time of accident or need.  Then as quickly as possible, we advise you to find some good doctor to aid in any way he can if the problem warrants it.

  1. Abrasions.
  2. rubbing or scraping off.
  3. a spot rubbed bare of skin or mucous membrane.

One of the first things to do in this condition is to see that the area is free of dirt or fine particles that could cause infection.  The use of liquid green soap, obtainable at a pharmacy or corner drug store, is one of the best cleansers to use.  This procedure is painful since the green soap contacts the bloody area, but must be endured until the area is clean and free from infection.  Following are some natural herbal aids for this condition.

Infection Salve: Apply over affected area after area has been completely cleaned.  Bandage if needed.

Burdock:  Burdock is well-known world wide as a blood purifying agent and if the leaves are pounded and put on the bruise, abrasion, sprain, etc., it will allay inflammation and ease the pain.

Comfrey:  The fresh, dry-cut or powdered herb can be applied directly to the abrasion and will stop bleeding and aid the area from becoming infected.  It is a great herb.

Plantain:  This entire plant is solvent in water or can be used directly on the external area in question and is an alternative astringent, diuretic and antiseptic.  When applying bruised leaves to the wounded area, it is known to check external bleeding and aid as an anti-infectious aid as well.

  1. Antiacid.

This is dyspepsia, more commonly known as chronic indigestion, and is among the most widespread types of stomach trouble.  The symptoms of indigestion are a full, heavy feeling in the stomach, gas, heartburn, a gurgling, rumbling stomach and sometimes nausea.

As an aid (after resolving to cut down on the wrong types of foods) start using papaya and/or peppermint tea.  Catnip and fennel tincture is also an emergency aid in colic and stomach upsets.

A tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and a tablespoon of honey in a cup of water (distilled preferably) if used 30 minutes before meals, is also a great help to ease or offset acid problems, as this combination adjusts the acid flow to the correct amount after a period of time.

  1. Bruise.

A superficial injury produced by impact without laceration; a contusion.

To treat a bruised condition, use any of the following herbs.

Arnica:  Carry a bottle of Oil of arnica and apply immediately or as soon as possible, Arnica will prevent a bruise from forming.   Arnica may be applied right up to the edge of an open wound but should not be apply over broken bleeding areas.  Arnica is recommended for external use only.

Burdock: Use the crushed leaves, fomentations or compresses.

Chamomile: Use the flower heads as compress.

Comfrey: Use bruised leaf or root as a fomentation compress.

  1. Burns.

A lesion caused by the contact of heat.  Burns of the first degree show redness; of the second degree, vesication; of the third degree, necrosis through the entire skin; and the fourth degree, more or less, charring.

Burdock: Burdock poultices have been used to treat bloody bruises and burns.

Mullein: Fomentations or poultices of the leaves and flowers beaten up with linseed meal have been applied to burns, scalds and boils. (Weiner’s Herbal, Stein & Day Pub.)

The following Burn Paste Formula can be used for the mildest to the most severe third degree burns with assurance of success, if used as instructed.  This paste has been used by hundreds of people with great success.  It is made as follows:

To equal parts of liquid honey and wheat germ oil, blend in finely chopped or powdered, fresh or dried comfrey leaf or root.  When the mixture is the consistency of a heavy spreadable paste it is ready to use.  Apply it a half-inch thick or more, over the entire area that has been burned, scalded, etc.  Cover with gauze and bandage lightly.  Observe area from day to day and if paste has been absorbed, add more on top of the original application.  Do not remove original, just add to it when needed.  This paste will keep well for many months at room temperature, if kept in a tightly sealed jar.  Always have it on hand for emergencies.  You should think of carrying a small jar on trips in case of emergency.

For detailed support download HEAL’s Burn Info Sheet:

If comfrey paste is not available, submerge the burned area in cold water and leave it there as long as possible to take the heat out, or keep cold, wet compresses over the burned area.  If honey, wheat germ oil, or olive oil are available, use them to saturate the area completely, keeping it well soaked in the honey or oil until healed.  The gel form of the Aloe Vera plant promotes the healing of burns.  These are all good, but nothing can compare with the comfrey paste.

  1. Broken Bones.

After the doctor has set the bone, use ½ to 1 tsp BF&C Extract in cup hot water 3 to 5 times each day.  With each cup of BF&C Tea, take ½ to 1 tsp of the Calcium Formula.

For Further information: Broken Bone Information Sheet

  1. Cuts.

A cut is a wound, such as an infliction by a sharp object.

Certain cuts, such as those that are deep and wide, may require stitches and the immediate attention of a doctor to prevent scarring.

If the bleeding does not stop using the following methods, or if the blood gushes in bright spurts, use a tourniquet and seek medical attention immediately.

The old herbalists claimed that cayenne pepper (capsicum or red pepper) should be poured directly into a fresh wound, to sterilize and stop the bleeding.  (This will usually work with even the worst bleeding)

Also, apply fresh or dry comfrey root or leaf to help stop the bleeding.  The comfrey can be put right onto the wound, if it is powdered.  If only the fresh leaf is available, tear up finely bruised, and apply with compresses.  Fresh or dried comfrey can be applied directly over the wound just keep adding additional amounts as needed.  Cover with gauze, bandage lightly to hold the comfrey in place and so the skin can breathe.

Comfrey paste (as in information on “burns”) can also be applied directly over the damaged area as with burns.  A wound, external or internal, will stop bleeding if the individual will drink a cup of water (preferably hot) with a teaspoon of cayenne pepper (red pepper) stirred into it.  The bleeding will stop generally by the time a person can count up to ten after drinking the cayenne tea.

The cayenne equalizes the blood pressure from the top of the head to the feet.  This keeps the pressure from the hemorrhage area so it will clot naturally, which it cannot do with heavy blood pressure pumping the blood rapidly at the hemorrhage area.

See additional Information on Cayenne:

Comfrey is one of our favorites and should be in everyone’s yard as in a flower pot in the apartment houses.

Better still, keep a good supply of the powdered comfrey leaf or root on hand.  Bruises respond equally well to a pack of fresh, crushed comfrey, or the powdered leaves or roots, made into a paste.

  1. Decongestant.

The removing of congestion such as colds, catarrh, coryza (cold in the head), influenza, etc.

A cold is a disorder in the respiratory tract resulting from exposure, with catarrh and invasion of microbial cleansers.  These symptoms, common cold, coryza, flu, etc., are evidenced by an inflammation of the upper respiratory tract, marked by an acute catarrhal condition of the nasal mucous membrane, a slight rise in the temperature, chilly sensations and general indisposition.

It is caused by oral bacterial infection feeding on excessive or copious secretions of mucus (waste materials) due to the body’s inability to properly assimilate milk and concentrated starches.  When a cold or fever just gets started, it can be cleared up very easily, if these following procedures are started early.

One of the most simple remedies is to stop the use of all foods and beverages, take a high herbal enema (Catnip is good) and drink only Red Raspberry Tea.  Between cups of this tea, distilled water may be used, and if desired, give some good organic (natural) Vitamin C. Drink several quarts of red raspberry tea during the day, but no solid foods.

The running nose, fever, headache and weariness will soon leave and one will feel like a new person.  Even after feeling greatly improved, continue on with the red raspberry leaf tea all that day and well into the next day.  If an adult will stay on the tea for three days, it would do a wonderful cleansing job for the body.

To make red raspberry leaf tea put one heaping teaspoonful of cut or granulated (powdered) raspberry leaves into a teacup.  Fill the cup with boiling distilled water, cover and let stand in a warm place for five or ten minutes.  Strain, and drink it while it is very warm (You may use an ounce of red raspberry leaves to a pint of distilled water, if desiring to make up more at a time).

According to Dr. Shook, both the raspberry leaves and berries contain a very wonderful citrate or iron (FE-2, C6, H5, 0-7-2, CH20).  It is upon these God given formulas that the body depends for the remarkable blood making and regulating properties (astringent and contracting action on internal tissues and membranes).  The leaves also contain pectin and other organic acids, calcium and potassium chloride and sulphate.  Medicinal action and uses of raspberry leaf tea are as follows: astringent, tonic, hemostatic, antiseptic, anti-abortient, parturient, anti-gonorrheal, anti-leucorrheal and anti-malarial (Dr. E. Shook).  With this description of a “simple” herbal tea, can you now doubt why it is so good for mankind?  In Ezekiel 47:12 we read ” . . . and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.”

Another aid is Boneset Tea.  Take one ounce of cut boneset herb and over it pour one and a fourth pints of boiling water.  Cover and set in a hot place to steep (not boil) for thirty minutes.  This is one of the great flu remedies.

One more of the “greats” for flu and colds:

  • 2 ounces elder flowers
  • 2 ounces peppermint leaves
  • 1 1/2 pints boiling distilled water

Pour boiling water over herbs, cover and allow to steep (not boil) in a hot place 20 minutes.  Strain and sweeten with honey.  Give to patient, who should drink the whole amount of tea as hot as possible.  Stay closely covered in bed and use a hot water bottle covered with a cloth or towel dipped in apple cider vinegar and place at the feet.  In a few minutes there will be a copious perspiration; the pulse will slow down and the patient should sleep peacefully for hours.

When taken alone, elder flowers are inclined to be an emetic, and somewhat nauseous to some people.  The effect can be prevented by combining them with peppermint (Mentha piperita).  Peppermint is a stimulant, nervine, calmative, and antiemetic, which offsets the undesirable effects of elder flowers.  This combination is world famous as a great fever and cold remedy.

  1. Earaches.

Pains or aching in the ear.

Earaches are caused by infection, colds in the head, a blow to the side of the head, and of course, many other causes.

The simple, old-fashioned aids are sometimes very fast in giving relief.  We will give you a number of aids that have been used successfully for many years.  Always treat both ears, even if only one aches.

Onion: Lightly bake a large onion, cut it in half and while warm, (not hot enough to irritate the area) bind one half of the onion over each ear.  Bandage in place and hold bandage on with a night cap and leave on all night.

Garlic:  Drop four to six drops of oil of garlic into each ear and plug with warm cotton.  Also add three or four drops of tincture of black cohosh, if available.

Chamomile: Use a fomentation over both ears of three parts of chamomile and one part lobelia.  Also take two ounces orally of this tea (a wineglassful) each two waking hours.  Leave the fomentation on the ears all night. (Cover the fomentation with plastic or oiled silk).

Mullein: Use three to six drops of mullein oil in both ears several times each day.  Insert it upon retiring for the night, and as before, plug the ears with cotton.  Place a fomentation over the ears all night of three parts mullein and one part lobelia.

Lobelia:  Place a few drops of tincture of lobelia (warmed) into each ear and plug with cotton.  Substitute antispasmodic tincture, black cohosh tincture combination or anti-plague tincture if needed.

Hops: Apply a flannel bag of hops and moist heat (hot water bottle, never dry heating pad) over the affected area.

Additional Information: Hearing Loss Information Sheet

 Fungus.

Such as impetigo, contagiosa

This is a contagious disease, caused by staphylococci masked by flat vesicles that become pustular and then crusted.

The best aid that can be given to clear up a fungus condition is the use of black walnut tincture as a fomentation externally and 6-10 drops three or more times a day taken orally in liquid (fruit juices or herbal teas).  Use HEAL’s Black Walnut Salve for all the topical applications.

  1. Infection

When signs of infection occur, use our Infection Formula, and or the topical Infection Poultice as needed.

When there is blood poisoning and/or lock jaw, use tincture of Lobelia or the Anti-Spasmodic Formula  (made with lobelia seed it is stronger) then after clearing the lock jaw by pouring a few drops on the lips, then go to the cause and clean up the infection that caused the lock jaw to become evident.  Use plantain as a poultice (fresh) or Plantain Salve. (The Infection Salve is all about Plantain)

See Infection Information Sheet for details:

 Insect repellent.

Symptoms are caused by insect stings or bites; a sharp prick with an acute burning sensation.  Can be caused by the fine hairs in the stinging nettle; by the tail of the wasp, bee, etc., from the head of gnats; from the claws of centipedes.  Usually the sting causes a local reversible inflammation.  When the sting carries pollen, it may cause violent constitutional reactions in victims who are hypersensitive to that pollen.  Death has occurred in some instances.

Jewel Weed Salve: Natures antidote for Poison Ivy and all the plants that cause reactions.  It is also great on pesky bug bites that cause an itch.

Oil of Anise & Oil of Sassafras: Mixed together are effective, as is Black Walnut Tincture & Oil of Elderberry.

Plantain: Bruised, or juiced in a juicer, and placed over the sting or bite will generally bring relief within a short time.  The pain and itch will cease and the swelling will leave.  Rub the bruised leaves or juice over the exposed parts of the body, and it will discourage the insects from annoying you.  The juice or crushed leaves of elderberry, walnut lilac (leaf) and hounds tongue will assist in keeping bites and stings to a minimum.

  1. Germicide

An agent that kills germs

A germicide that can be used for sterilization of tissue surfaces is an herbal combination called “First Aid Tincture“.  It consists of Oak Bark, Golden Seal Root, Myrrh, Comfrey Root, Garlic, Capsicum and Black Walnut in 37 to 42% pure grain alcohol.

  1. Nausea

Tendency to vomit, sickness of the stomach

Use the Anti-Nausea Formula, which is 1 ounce each of the following herbs:

  • Powdered Cinnamon,
  • Powdered Cloves,
  • Powdered Nutmeg

Simmer in one pint of water five to ten minutes.  Do not boil, pour this decoction over four ounces of spearmint leaves and steep for twenty minutes.

Strain, sweeten with honey and use from a teaspoonful to a tablespoonful or more as needed.

You may also use the anti-plague formula.

This is good for car, plane, or boat sickness; in fact, for most any motion sickness.  It is also good for nausea from pregnancy, etc.  You may find the NF Formula to be helpful also.

  1. Poisonous weeds

Whenever you feel the sting from poison oak, poison ivy or stinging nettle, there will be, within eyesight, one or more of the following herbs growing; mullein, hounds tongue, plantain or lilac leaves.

Bruise the leaves of any of these and apply over the irritated areas and it generally gives quick relief.  Use chickweed ointment, plantain ointment, or mullein ointment to relieve the itching and aid in neutralizing the poisons.

  1. Sprains

Muscular soreness.

Use of our  Deep Heating Oil, or Mullein & Cayenne Salve for muscular soreness and also as an aid in relieving the pain in sprains.  One of the best aids for sprains and muscle soreness, cuts and bruises is BF&C Salve.  Pack this generously over the malfunctioning area with cotton or wool flannel.  Keep pack in place with “Press & Seal” plastic wrap.

Look on page 4 of the Glands Info sheet for specific directions on applying a pack:

  1. Toothache

Apply Oil of Clove or Oil of Cinnamon for immediate relief in the cavity or around the area where the toothache is occurring.

With a q-tip apply a few drops of Tooth & Gum Formula for immediate relief in the cavity or around the area where the pain is occurring.

Whatever Good May Come

Whatever Good May ComeToday I am going to honk my own horn for a bit.  I want to let you all know that I wrote a book. “Whatever Good May Come,” is my testimony, my story and the story of HEAL Marketplace, but mostly about the journey of a lost little girl who is making her way through life in the strength and wisdom provided by the one who has loved her most.   The Father has been my Friend and guide from as far back as my mind can go.

Honk Honk!!  My story is a real page turner, I say this not because I am the author and of course I think it is a great book, but in the authority of the many who have read it and shared their opinion with me.

As I have said many times, “life with the Father is never boring” He has taken me to places I would never have chosen to go on my own.  Having faced pain and loss in his strength I can honestly say I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good.  I would not choose to change a thing.  It’s all good; His love flowing through my life has made it all perfect.

It is my desire to share this fabulous journey with you.  The “silent watcher” that I was (almost the name of the book) has found her voice and she has something worth hearing to say.

Pregnancy Green Drink

The Green DrinkInterestingly the [Red Raspberry] berries are said to provide many of the medicinal factors of the leaves. We have been encouraged by midwives to eat freely of the berries, if possible, for the same good effect during pregnancy–a lovely medicine!

Since some people never get used to the taste of the tea a good way to use the leaves is to make a green drink. Our “pregnancy green drink”, to which we have grown so accustomed that we can hardly imagine pregnancy without it.

Directions for Making the Pregnancy Green Drink

It is made thus, to a cup or more of pineapple juice in a blender container, add a handful of Red Raspberry leaves, a handful of comfrey leaves and a few alfalfa leaves. Blend until the fibers of the leaves are broken down and drink immediately. You can add a couple of ice cubes or a little cold water if you want an icy or thinner drink.

Three Supportive Herbs for Every Expecting Mother

raspberryleafRed Raspberry is a great agent for cleansing a canker condition of the mucous membranes in the alimentary tract, leaving the tissue toned.

In pregnancy the infusion, when taken regularly, will quiet premature pains, and will produce a safe, speedy and easy delivery. Raspberry leaves stimulate, tone and regulate (both the leaves and fruit are high in citrate of iron which is the active alterative, blood-making, astringent and contractive agent for the reproductive area) before and during childbearing, assisting contractions and checking hemorrhage during labor, relieving after-pains, then strengthening, cleansing, and enriching the milk of the mother in the post-delivery period.

Dr. Christopher recommended taking at least a daily cup of Red Raspberry tea throughout pregnancy.

He said that in addition to Red Raspberry’s good effects on the uterus it is also anti-nausea.

A woman who was expecting her ninth child often experienced nausea during pregnancy. When she suspected that she might be pregnant again she began taking the tea even before she began to feel morning sickness. She never experienced any discomfort so she wondered if it might just be an unusual or unhealthy pregnancy, so she discontinued the tea. Not long after she began to feel nausea! She quickly began to take the tea again and felt no discomfort since then.

Alfalfa: Many people consider Alfalfa an important herb to take throughout pregnancy.

  • alfalfa-bspIf an expectant mother is suffering from morning sickness, she can eat Alfalfa sprouts in her diet, until the condition is under control.
  • Many people consider that a daily green drink consisting of Alfalfa, comfrey and fresh red-raspberry leaves is an excellent pregnancy drink; it is preferred to a tea made of the same substances.
  • After the birth, Alfalfa is sometimes taken to prevent hemorrhages. Some women have eaten Alfalfa after their births like candy in order to shorten the postpartum bleeding time.
  • Alfalfa is also thought to dramatically help bring the milk in for the nursing mother. It certainly enriches the quality of the milk and is much preferable to other hot beverages, such as regular tea, which can pollute the breast milk.
  • Alfalfa tea can be flavored with mint, orange peel, and

kelp-285x300Kelp and Toxemia: Kelp, as might be expected, is also of use in the female organs. It will tone up a weak uterus and help produce a healthier baby, as the balanced minerals will be supplied fully with the use of Kelp. Some women who had lost babies in childbirth and others who had not been able to carry babies were helped by the use of Kelp by Dr. Powell’s prescription of Kelp to carry healthy baby’s full term. Especially when toxemia threatens during the last stages of the pregnancy, Kelp, being a carrier of important minerals and a toner and an antiseptic, can help clear up an otherwise dangerous condition.

Heartburn during Pregnancy

adding extract to waterMany women experience indigestion and heartburn, and sometimes gas, during pregnancy. This may be caused by the stomach having less room to do its work, nervous tension which inhibits good digestion, too many stomach acids, or a relaxed stomach, which allows foods to back up.

Be sure that you DO NOT TAKE antacids during pregnancy. They further inhibit digestion, and they may cross over the placenta into the baby.

The Digestive Tonic is an excellent remedy for all cases of Heartburn.  Add one teaspoon to a glass of water and drink all at once.  This is a simple but effective formula made up of Ginger Root, Peppermint Leaf, Fennel Seed and Peppermint Oil.   The Digestive Tonic can be used freely.

To deal with symptoms of Heartburn, Dr. Christopher first emphasized that we must chew our food. Many of us just gulp it down, and the large particles cause gas, fermentation, and pain. Chew well; even juices should be swished in the mouth to mix them with saliva and begin digestion.

Avoid drinking with your meals; water or other liquids dilute the digestive fluids; you may, however, want to take broth or juices with the meal, but you should “chew” these, too.

Increase your B-vitamin foods, including whole grains, brewer’s yeast, wheat germ, yogurt, perhaps acidophilus.

Don’t smoke or drink tea or coffee; these irritate the stomach and increase heartburn.

Eat small meals frequently; if you must be away from home, take juice, fruit and nuts with you to prevent your blood sugar going down and stomach acids overproducing.

Papaya can aid digestion–fresh, dried or in tablets.

Some women take tablets of activated charcoal to absorb gases in the system.

Slippery elm gruel will alleviate heartburn and absorb gases and toxins.

Healing Basics: The Cleansing Crisis

treat-cancer240x240Most Natural Practitioners warn their patients that it is normal to feel a bit under the weather during the first few days of any good detox program.  Detoxing the body does not have to be problematic if handled correctly.  A basic understanding of the cleansing process will prevent or quickly end any toxic issues.

What is a Cleansing Crisis?

A cleansing crisis will occur anytime the immune system is unable to properly deal with the toxins ready for elimination.  A Cleansing Crisis can leave you feeling like you have been run over by a Mac Truck.  The body can feel achy from head to toe, congested, nauseated, very much like the flu.

These symptoms let us know the immune system needs some support. Internally the body has been using the alkaline foods and herbs consumed to clear waste from the tissues and organs.  This waste must now be moved up and out, where it will need to be neutralized by the immune cells.  Once the immune system has done its job the liver and kidneys can filter the waste for elimination from the body.

Toxins the immune cells are unable to neutralize will not be released into the blood.  This waste will be reabsorbed back into the tissue or organ.  Our internal body chemistry functions in an alkaline environment. Our blood must maintain a pH of 7.4. If it drops below that to 7.2 we die.

The cells of the body in health are alkaline. In disease the cell pH is below 7.0. The more acid the cells become, the sicker we are and feel.  Reabsorbing of the toxic “die-off” created during the cleansing process causes the body to feel toxic.

Prevention is the answer: Before beginning any cleansing program make it a habit to boost your immune system.  Echinacea is the most effective immune stimulator in nature.  Echinacea works by sending a chemical command to the immune system to produce more immune cells.  With ample immune cells to deal with the detoxing waste the body will not feel any effects from the cleansing process.

Hemorrhoids

hemorrhoid-picturesAnyone who has ever experienced hemorrhoids can attest to the long lasting pain and discomfort.   Over the years I have discovered a few things that work well and those that do not.  The best advice I can offer is to deal with it early.  Don’t wait for piles to form or the pain to drive you on for answers.  Deal with this issue at the first sign of discomfort.

Prevention is always the best medicine.  Constipation is the leading cause of Hemorrhoids.  Pushing hard matter out damages the tissue around the rectum.  Over time the elasticity of the skin is broken down allowing the vessels to float to the surface where the hard matter passing over them wrecks pain and havoc.  Do whatever it takes to keep your bowels soft and moving well.  The Lower Bowel Formula #1 is an Excellent Herbal Aid for backed up bowels.

Calcium

Another cause for Hemorrhoids is a poor food program.  Calcium is an important nutrient for healthy tissue.  Varicose veins as well as Hemorrhoids are intensified when the body is lacking a good usable source of Calcium.

Avoiding foods that leach calcium from the system is the first step in building up the body.  Stay away from all processed foods, especially sugar and white flour products.  Get outside into the sunshine whenever possible.  This is your best source of Vitamin D, and it’s free.  See the Calcium Information Sheet for more great tips.

BF&C Tincture & Salve for Hemorrhoids

One of the best herbal aids for strengthening tissue is the BF&C (Bone Flesh & Cartilage) formula.  This formula contains the nutrients that can knit the body back together.  Suggested dose: 1 teaspoon of the tincture taken in water or juice three times a day.  Apply the Salve to the affected area after bathing and following each movement.  I’ve seen great improvement within the first week.  This is not a quick fix but a healing which takes time.

Pain Suggestions:  The G-Nervine Salve is helpful at calming the fired up nerves following any movement.  Applying a finger full of the salve after each movement can calm the pain.

Try inserting a finger of “Red Potato” into the rectum to calm the pain.  This has proven very effective.

Excerpts from the Author’s Reading of: “Whatever Good May Come”

A good portion of my life has been spent in victim mode, accepting responsibility for the wrong choices of others, reacting instead of living.  Personal freedom has come as I have developed boundaries. I now understand where my responsibility ends.  I no longer allow the bad choices others make to oppress my life.  Taking on the emotional baggage someone else is choosing to carry is not an act of kindness for either of us.  I have learned to listen, offer my best advice, and then leave the emotional baggage behind. Personal freedom allows me to say, “This is not my problem.  I care about you, but I am not your personal dumping ground.” It is impossible to share our gifts with the world if we allow those we meet to dump their emotional junk all over us.

Know thyself. Exploring the depths of our inner world is the most important journey we can take. The study of myself has been the most important I have ever pursued. I have gotten to know myself as I have processed through the early experiences in my life, reconciling the emotional fallout. An understanding of the damage done to the child I was has allowed me to let go of some long held misunderstandings about my responsibility for the abuse I endured.  The contempt and shame I held toward myself has been replaced with knowledge and forgiveness.   Throughout the years, as my teachers have passed through my life, they have each endeavored to lift me above my shame.  Each was holding a piece of my personal puzzle and answers to questions I had not even known to ask.

Dara’s Choice: Reading From Whatever Good May Come

Now, as I leaf through the pages of my past, I have discovered I am holding the combined wisdom of all my teachers.  They freely gave their gifts to me, and now it is my privilege to pass them on.  They had eyes to see what was real in me, ears to hear what I was really saying, and hearts to truly love the confused soul standing before them.  They were not supermen or angels, just people with understanding hearts.  This is each of us; we all have gifts to give, things we know that someone else is just now ready to hear.  We hold the missing pieces for each other.  — Taken From Chapter 11; Entitled: “Forgiveness”

I have always felt that when God puts you in a seat of authority over other people, you have a responsibility to do right by them.  I believe God will hold accountable anyone in a position of authority who is derelict in their duty or willfully harms or causes pain to those over whom they have authority.

I noticed some caseworkers degraded their clients.  When I considered the sad cases that passed through our office, I often thought, “but for the grace of God there go I.”  In our lives, most of us will have our circumstances turned around many times.  The downturns may be beyond our control and independent of our personal actions.  Life’s lessons must be learned.  If we fail to learn them during the good times, the Father will take us over the same track again and again, until we learn what He is trying to teach us.

The first time He tries to press a lesson home to our hearts, it can be in the quiet of our room as we meditate.  A thought is pressed on our minds that we may dismiss as inconsequential, something we don’t wish to deal with at that moment, if ever.  Time goes along, and soon you’ll hear that very thought spoken aloud by a trusted friend or authority figure. God is raising His voice in your life, trying to get your attention and tell you that now is the time to deal with this issue.  But your pride is hurt and you decide to blow off the opinion of this person.  What do they know anyway? It’s your life and it’s been going along just fine.

Nope, wrong answer.  This issue is not going to go away.  Jesus, the Father, God, Providence, the Powers That Be, whatever you wish to call it, has decided that this is the time, right here and right now, for you to deal with yourself.  The next time, and there will be a next time, it will surface as a full blown, most likely, public trial guaranteed to get your attention.  The Father will take us round and round an issue until we surrender the idol He is asking for, along with our pride. Those who refuse to be taught by any means will eventually make a shipwreck of their lives, with the loss of all they hold dear.

Working on ourselves can be the toughest job of all, so be kind to those who are going down the hard roads.  Learn from the example of others. Pray that when the Lord deals with you, that you will listen quickly, and if you fail to notice His quiet calls to reform your life, that as you travel down the hard road, you will be rewarded for the kindnesses you have shown. –Read From Chapter Six, Entitled: “Mrs. Michael Dietz”

Once, during a weekend intensive on personal empowerment, I participated in a guided meditation on my past experiences. During the meditation, I watch myself walk up a grassy knoll toward a castle.  Approaching the strong stonewalls, I see a massive door standing ajar.  The bright morning sun lights my way as I pass through the vestibule and into a large dimly lit room.  As my eyes adjust to the changing light, I began to make my way toward what appears to be piles of discarded stuff.

Approaching the first pile, I see a bunch of mismatched shoes and socks lying among little coats and sweaters.  I’m about to pass on when I recognize a favorite sweater I once owned.  How strange to find it here, I think to myself.  My attention is drawn to another pile of small boxes a few steps away.  I pick up a small, pink box from the top of the pile and slowly open the lid.  Softly, music begins to play as the ballerina with the broken arm twirls round and round.  I pull open the little drawer the way I had a thousand times before.  How did my old broken music box end up here?   Putting it back down, I quickly pass on, determined to explore the rest of the piles.  On the top of each I discover a single article from my past.  I explore the memory each item revives as the early morning sun descends into late afternoon shadows.  Time to go; I will leave my memories here, safely stored in my castle on the hill.  Its stone walls are strong and sure.  Here it had been safe to touch and feel, safe to remember.

As I turn to leave, the fading light beams down on one last pile lying just inside the archway.  I lean over, wondering what memory it will hold for me.  My heart leaps within me as my arms instinctively reach out for the small discarded bundle.  There, lying motionless and silent, is a baby girl.  She had been tossed aside, discarded.  I knew this child instinctively.  I had seen those eyes before, wide open and full of fear.  My heart had heard her silent cries for help–cries long ignored by those entrusted to listen.  As I gather her safely into my arms, we melt into one.  I feel her snuggle in beside my heart as I step through the open archway.

During another guided meditation that same weekend, the baby girl appeared again, but this time she was about seven years old.  She sat outside the house of the old man who raped us.  This was not the first time she visited me in my dreams.  In the past, I felt such contempt toward this little girl.  I had not cared for her, and she had not trusted me.  Something was different this time.  As I saw her sitting there all alone with no one to share her horrible secret with, my heart filled with compassion for her.  I finally understood why she had gone back to the old man’s house–she craved love and attention.  She was just a little girl; it was not her fault.   As I looked into those empty eyes, my heart finally heard her soft cry.  She needed my love and protection.  I reached out for her hand as I had many times before, and for the first time, she took my hand and walked away with me.

These images represent the child in me. The baby and the young girl still live inside me, despite all.  The girl-child now lives in safety–sheltered, protected, understood, and cherished. I am perfectly capable now of being a good mother to her. We have a lot of catching up to do. We can begin to explore what being a child is really all about. Now, it is safe to play. — — Taken From Chapter 11; Entitled: “Forgiveness”
