Brown Recluse Spider Bite

Dara Dietz

One of our wonderful members recently experienced a Brown Recluse Spider Bite.  Here is the protocol we suggested and what was done to clear the issue at home using the simple natural herbal remedies

Brown recluse spider bites are usually painless therefore often initially go unnoticed.  Symptoms usually develop 2-8 hours after a bite. The actual bite will cause little tissue destruction.

Initially the bite site is mildly red and upon close inspection may reveal fang marks. Within a few hours, the redness gives way to pallor with a red ring surrounding the area, or a “bull’s-eye” appearance. The lesion will often appear to flow downhill over the course of many hours. The center area will then often blister, which over 12-48 hours can sink, turning bluish then black as this area of tissue dies.

Brown Recluse Spider Bite

As soon as you notice you have been bit apply a generous amount of Infection Salve over the bite area.  Spread it out in all directions for several inches if possible.  Cover with cotton flannel if possible.

By the time our member noticed the bite the pressure had already built to the place of pain.  He decided to lance the bite.  He admitted all he got out at this point was blood.  No puss was released by this early cut.

As soon as you can assemble the items make the Charcoal Flax Seed Poultice.  The poultice needs to be large enough to completely encase the affected area. As example would be, If the bite is on the calf, encase the entire calf in the poultice.  You may also want to apply some M&L salve over the area before applying the poultice.  This will aid in opening the lymph system to move waste more effectively from the area.

Here is how our member effectively cleared the serious and painful effects of the Brown Recluse Spider Bite.

That first night after lancing the bite to try to release some of the pressure he applied the charcoal Flax poultice.

The next morning after we spoke he began using the Infection Salve alternating between the Charcoal Poultice and infection salve.  Leave the Charcoal Poultice on at least 4 hours before changing back to the Infection salve pack for 4 hours.

He also began the Infection Program using the Herbal Antibiotic, Infection formula and Echinacea.  Using 1 oz of Echinacea daily and one tsp of the Herbal antibiotic or Infection Formula every 2 hours.  It was decided switching between the two formulas every other dose would be a good idea.  See more information on the Infection Program in the Infection Info Sheet.

After work he decided to do a Hot Epsom Salt bath.  While in the bath the bite site erupted.  The Puss that came out looked like Cottage Cheese.

Spider Bite after Epsom Salt bath

After the bath he applied an Infection Salve pack and did his ELF (Emergency Liver Flush)  See pdf for instructions and details.

He changed the Infection Poultice for another Charcoal Flax Poultice at bedtime and left it on all night.

The next day he continued the Infection program and kept the bite encased in the Charcoal Flax poultice or the infection salve throughout the day.

After work is did another Hot Epsom Salt bath.  More puss was ejected from the bite site, not as much as the day before.

Applied the infection Salve after the bath and then changed to the Charcoal poultice at bedtime.

This was the Last charcoal Flax poultice needed.

He continued to use the Infection salve as needed.  The spider bite was cleared in three days, healing the lance site took several days longer.

Please note a garden variety spider bite will be quickly cleared, usually 24 hours by using the Infection Salve alone.  I received a bite several years ago and it took a little more than 24 hours to completely clear the red area from my finger.  There was a painful sting as soon as I received the bite.  If you have no idea what type of spider bite you have apply the infection salve first.  If the bite dose not continue to escalate in swelling and pain it is likely not a Recluse bite and will clear with out much more drama.

BF&C Quickly Reverses Soft Tissue Injury

Last Wednesday I tripped over the edge of the carpet directly outside my office and fell flat.  My left arm caught the worst of the damage.  Thank the Lord for BF&C Salve and extract.  My arm, though not broken, was too damaged to use.  The elbow had been seriously jammed up.  The joint was immediately wrapped in a BF&C Pack and I began drinking a cup of the BF&C tea every hour.  It was immobilized by holding it tight across my abdomen.  That first day it was too painful to even move an inch in any direction.  The discomfort was coming directly from the elbow joint.  The M&L Salve used for its muscle relaxing properties was a helpful herbal tool for keeping the elbow from locking up.

The BF&C Salve Pack was left on all day and all night.  Thursday Morning I was able to, (with a lot of discomfort) lift my arm enough to get dressed.  It has been a week since the fall and each day’s healing improvements have been noteworthy.  The BF&C formula continues to be one of the best and quickest ways to heal any soft tissue injury.  Often for a slight sprang or turned ankle the use of a pack will all but clear the issue overnight.   Remember when the worst happens the herbal gifts given us from the Father are still our quickest way out of pain and will also speed the healing process.

Thyroid Testimony

Childhood thyroid issues

Dara Dietz age 16

My mother used to joke that when puberty hit it knocked me out. She was right. It seemed I could not get enough sleep. On a typical day I’d drag myself out of bed in the morning. Somehow I’d managed to get through school without falling asleep. Come home sleep on the couch until dinner, take a bath and crawl back to bed where I’d sleep until morning when I’d do it all again. Sometime during the fifth grade my parents took me to a pediatrician and discovered my low functioning thyroid. The doctor prescribed thyroid medication, which she said I’d need for the rest of my life.

Life began to get interesting after I woke up. I faithfully took my little pill every day. I noticed even one day without my medication would bring on a brain fog along with the urge to sleep the day away. After giving birth to my daughter the brain fog was more dangerous. If I missed a dose I noticed I did not have the mental ability to keep up with my active toddler. She could wander away from me and I would not even know she had gone until a crash or some other heart stopping noise made me aware of her whereabouts. It began to bother me that I was only me when I took my pill.

Discovering the power of Kelp

Kelp came into my life though the suggestion of a trusted friend. She said kelp would safely provide me natural energy. I was very interested. Several years earlier I had experienced the consequences that follow over dosing on caffeine. The energy needed to maintain life as a single parent / full time student was enormous. I would have done anything short of taking illegal drugs for more energy. My friend shared that she had used kelp pills freely for years. This sounded too good to be true, but also too good not to check out. I began taking four or five kelp pills a couple times a day. Right away I noticed I did have more energy. This was great! I also did not experience the crash that usually followed after hopping myself up on caffeine.

After using kelp freely for over a year I experienced heart palpitations one morning after taking my normal thyroid medication. The emergency room doctor checked my blood levels and found my thyroid functioning within the normal range. This was shocking information; I had understood there was no healing my thyroid condition. At twenty five years old I had taken my last thyroid pill.

Kelp has continued to be an important part of my daily food program. After founding HEAL Marketplace I experimented combining the different kelps until I found a combination that suited me well. We call this our “Super Kelp Blend” a mix of: Iris Moss, Pacific Kelp and Purple Dulse. These herbs are excellent food for a malfunctioning thyroid; it does not matter if the thyroid is over producing or under producing. Kelp is God’s gift, His master herb for the thyroid gland.

Natural Support for the Glands

Dara Dietz

Learning how best to support our glandular system, what foods are needed to provide these internal factories with the needed nutrients for them to produce the hormones needed to maintain our best health.  Our glandular system supports, digestion, absorption and utilization of all food elements and the very existence of cells.  No physiological or mental activity is possible without them.  In their absence the body and its activities would cease to be.  Manifestly, the glands cannot pick their required elements form the blood unless their progenitors were previously taken in the foods eaten.

We are going to take a good look at the best herbal supports and foods to support the Thyroid gland, Adrenal glands, and Pancreas Gland.

There is so much I could say about the benefits of these glandular formulas.  The Support they have provided in my body and the relief and healing provided to many of our members has been great.  I cannot say enough on the healing power of these God Given Gifts.  I dare not say more.

The Thyroid, through the hormone thyroxine determines growth, controls body temperature, regulates the metabolism or the burning of food in the body and influences, to a great extent mental and emotional balance.  The master herb for the thyroid is Kelp.  Whither the thyroid is overactive or underactive, kelp will prove helpful in healing and restoring normal function to this gland.  Our info sheet on Thyroid will provide information on how to use the M&L Salve to shrink a goiter or remove cysts from the gland itself.

Herbal Supports for the Thyroid: Super-kelp Capsules or Powder;  M&L Salve, and the Glands formula.

Adrenal Glands are absolutely essential to life.  The adrenals, often referred to as the suprarenal, are the Creator’s most intricate chemical factories.  “it would take acres of chemical plants” to synthetically manufacture “the 50 odd hormones or hormone like substances” produced by the adrenal glands.

Most hypoglycemics have problems feeding themselves, for they crave protein and sugar, yet these substances are wearing on the adrenals, which are often exhausted in hypoglycemics.  You need to feed the adrenals with Licorice root and Hawthorne berries, the later being said to produce natural adrenalin.

Herbal Supports for the Adrenals: Adrenal Formula; Licorice Root extract; Hawthorne extract; Glands Formula.

Pancreas Gland, Malfunction can manifest in one of two ways; Diabetes, which is high blood sugar or hypoglycemia, which is low blood sugar.  Though they are completely different, they both stem from the same cause, a malfunction of the pancreas, which is what must be supported so it can function normally again.  The Master herb for the Pancreas is Cedar Berries.

Herbal Supports for the Pancreas Gland: Pancreas Aid; (ELF)Liver Flushing; (LBF #1)Bowel Cleansing.

Cooking with Chickpea Flour

A friend introduced me to Chickpea flour several months ago.  She made a delicious vegetable patty using chickpea flour.  The most impressive part was that no binder was needed, the chickpea flour held together perfectly.  After playing with the seasonings and veggies used in the patty I shared this great find on a video.

Chickpea Vegetable Patties

Of course I kept playing with the chickpea flour and discovered it also make a great flatbread, known as Socca or Farinata.  I found I could lighten the flavor by mixing oat flour to the mix.  The discovery of Chickpea flour pancakes really made my day.  Everything good, high protein, high fiber, and no wheat flour or eggs needed.

Most of the recipes for Socca use water but I have found I like the flavor of the bread better if I use a nut milk, and add ½ cup of oat flour.  Once the basic ingredients are assembled any of the herbs or other seasonings can be added as desired.  Adding garlic powder or The Italian seasoning will make it a bit more savory.  Adding vanilla, cinnamon, honey and your favorite sweetener makes for a sweet treat without guilt.

Chickpeas are an excellent source of protein once ounce has 3 grams, and fiber 2 grams for the one ounce.    There is always a container of hummus in the fridge for my husbands snacks.

For those of us who have stopped using wheat flour in all its forms here are some high protein, high fiber alternatives that taste great too.

Chickpea Flour Flat Bread

1 Cup Chickpea Flour; 1/2 Oat flour; 1/2 tsp Salt; 1/4 tsp Pepper; 1 TBL Olive oi;l 1 3/4 Cup Nut Milk; Heat oven to 450 degrees; Place 10 inch cast iron skillet into oven while heating.

Here is my second offering in my three part series on Cooking with Chickpea flour. This very simple yet tasty wrap will work well with anything you want to put in it.

Chickpea Flour Wrap

1 Cup Chick Pea Flour; 1/2 Cup Tapioca Flour (Starch); 1/2 tsp Salt; 1 Cup Water or Nut Milk; Small amount of Oil to coat frying Pan

Edema aka Dropsy

Definition

Abnormal and excessive accumulation or infiltration of diluted lymph serum in the interfibrillar spaces of the subcutaneous connective tissue or in the serious (peritoneal or pleural) cavities of the body which do not drain.

Symptoms

This condition is accompanied by swelling, scanty urine, poor appetite, sluggishness, and debility. The swelling usually begins in the feet and ankles and proceeds up the legs towards the abdomen.

Cause

Heavy salt users often have edema as do diabetics. We do not pinpoint the symptoms as to locality (hydrocephalus, hydrothorax, ascites, etc.), as does orthodox medicine, but the general problem is that fluid does not eliminate properly through the kidneys and skin.

Dr. Edward Shook had the following to say about dropsy (Edema):

“When sulfuric acid is generated within the organism, it immediately unites with water and swells up. This action produces heat, which expands the capillaries. The osmotic pressure forces the serum through the walls of the blood vessels, producing inflammation and dropsy (edema).

Hence the using of inorganic matter is always poisonous to the human organism in spite of all the apparent evidence to the contrary.”

What Can be Done for Dropsy?

This was a question put to Dr. Christopher in his newsletter. His answer: For mild or beginning forms of dropsy caused by urinary malfunction, we have the following:

For a severe case let us cite a good case of how it can be handled in most cases.

A lady came into our weekly Tuesday night lecture a little late, after we had barely started. She asked if she could interrupt and tell something that had happened to her since the last lecture, a week ago. We said we’d be happy to hear her story, so she told us the reason she was a little late was because of a long distance phone call she had just received.

Just after the last lecture, the Tuesday before, she received a call from her brother-in-law in Chicago. He told her that if she wanted to see her twin sister alive she had better fly back there immediately because the doctors had said she had only a day or two to live.

Our student took a few days off from work and arrived in Chicago on the following Friday. She went in to see her sister and would not have recognized her if she hadn’t been told who it was. Her sister was so badly swollen from edema (dropsy) that she seemed to be only a bloated, unrecognizable mass of flesh. She had been under doctors’ care for a number of months, and they had been unable to give her anything but temporary aid from the water accumulation. Now they were utterly baffled and had, at the family’s request, sent her home from the hospital to die (being given a day or two or slightly more grace).

The sick and suffering twin was in a coma, not recognizing anyone, and our student cried when she saw her favorite sister lying there helpless, with little school children needing their mother so much, so she asked the husband if he would allow her to use an herbal routine she had heard about at a lecture recently. He said the family’s doctor was just waiting for her to die anyway, so go ahead!

Our lady found a little health food store nearby and bought some parsley root and glycerine (this was animal glycerine, we now use vegetable glycerine which is superior).

When she got back she made up parsley root tea (one teaspoon of herb to a cup of water, or one ounce of herb to the pint of water), making up about one gallon of the tea. (Steam distilled water is 30% more efficient than tap water and is our choice.)

One quart of the tea was used straight to give to this patient orally, and three quarts of the parsley root tea was mixed with equal parts of glycerine (making six quarts of the mixture) for fomentations.

They would give a cup of parsley tea each one half hour to the patient to drink, and the heated combination (of parsley and glycerine) was used as a fomentation over the badly swollen legs, arms and abdomen. This was done by soaking white flannel cloths and laying them over the areas. (Use cotton or wool, never use synthetic cloth.)

As the patient lay there so helpless, her sister remembered instructions given to follow the progress of the treatment. She was to lift the corner of the cloth, after the fomentation had been on for a short time, and watch to see if the pores were starting to take the water from swollen areas. She said that as she looked it was like seeing hundreds of little springs coming from the body. She had made this trip and was walking by faith, using a formula she did not know about or had ever used before. She had just heard of it at our lecture that previous Tuesday. She had to fly back to work on Monday, so she left all the instructions with the husband to continue on with the program that had been started.

After work Tuesday she rushed home to get ready for the regular Tuesday night herb lecture and the phone rang. It was her brother-in-law from Chicago. He said, “There is someone here who would like to talk to you.” He put his wife on the phone. Even though she had laid helpless for months and part of the time in a semi-conscious condition, she was on the phone now, so happy she was crying. The swelling had gone down, and she was recovering rapidly–in fact she said she got the children’s breakfast and fixed their school lunches that day and was so grateful “to be a mother again”–not a dying patient. There were not many dry eyes in the lecture room that Tuesday night when she finished her story.
