Emotional flushing

Healing hurts also heals the body.

Dara with Music Box December 1970

Emotional clearing can be as important to the healing of the body as the clearing of physical toxins.  Learning to let go of the past is the first step in the healing journey only you can take.  Letting go takes many forms.  Learning to truly forgiving yourself and those who have wronged you is one way to begin.  Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.  Holding onto old hurts will eat you up from the inside out, destroying your capacity to receive or give love.

Finishing what you began, freedom from past obligations is also an excellent way to release the past.  Deciding to choose something new and better for ourselves requires we make room in our lives for the new.  When closing a chapter of your life it must be finished or it will continue to call you back.

Author Reading Preview “Whatever Good May come”

How is this done?  What does it look like?  Stop for a moment and take a walk with your mind and heart through the chapter of your life you want to finish.  What memories or people still call out to you?  What promises have been left undone or projects unfinished?  With pen and paper make your chapter closing list.  Finish what was begun and move on.

Several years ago I discovered Life had played a dirty trick on me.  In the process of writing my story I finally found my voice and the emotional strength to confront my violators. Yeah for me!  Will not so great, they were all dead.  So what does one do with all the words that must go unsaid, and all the questions that will go unanswered in this life?

Maturity has brought with it a wisdom and understanding of the soul capable of the atrocities I endured in my younger years.  The bits of wisdom providence saw fit to share with me I have been privileged to pass on.  Sharing through the written word and one on one as the opportunity arises has turned the hurts I endured into a healing balm for shattered hearts.  The painful past is over, that chapter is closed, and today I stand here, where the Lord has placed me, strong in His strength.  The broken girl I was is now a capable woman.

HANDLING THE CLEANSING CRISIS

healing crisisSomeone recently asked me for a bit of natural healing support for dealing with the all too common detoxing backlash known as “The Cleansing Crisis”.

A cleansing crisis need not drive a frightened first timer to the emergency room.  A good understanding of the process and the use of a few herbal supports can quickly clear any uncomfortable detoxing reaction when applied with understanding.  Before freaking out “think,” ask the question; “What is really happening?”

I will deal lightly with the most common symptoms below, for a more detailed discussion and explanation of how to handle the issues refer to various articles found in the Lady of Herbs website.

Breaking out in Hives would indicate the liver is unable to process toxins out through normal channels so is using the skin to detox.  This is not the best of ideas and can be quickly remedied by doing an ELF once assured the bowels are open and moving well.

Vomiting will occur when the bowels are not open.  There are several supports that will aid the body in moving a flush along, calming an upset tummy quickly but they will only work if the bowels are open and waste is moving well.  When the bowels are backed up leaving no open avenue for natural removal of the flow of toxins vomiting will occur.  Don’t be discouraged, do the necessary work to clear the bowel before continuing onto the more detoxing programs.

DONT PANIC WITH UR HEALING CRISISSwelling can occur for many reasons.  Depending on the issues in the body proper herbal support needs to be in place for any heart or kidney issues before moving into the stronger detoxing programs. The scary painful swelling that occurs when infection is rapidly moving from the lower levels to the upper systems for elimination can appear with sudden intensity.  Only the most experienced natural healer would not lose it when facing this crisis.  Truthfully it is easily handled and quickly cleared with the Charcoal Flaxseed (infection) poultice applied as needed over the affected area.  The body is doing its job perfectly; our job is to support the process of infection removal.

Lose to Watery Bowels again can be the result of waste moving rapidly from the system.  This is often not something to be arrested unless the condition persists; in which case dosing with the LBF #2 formula will quickly clear the issue.  Use the LBF #2 episodley to tighten the bowels back up.  Using a rounded teaspoon in 6 oz of water works well for lose crampy bowels.  If the bowels have turned to water use a large tablespoon in 12 oz of water with each episode.

Dizziness also known as Vertigo; Chest pain; in fact any issue dealing with the movement of blood can be cleared instantly with a good dose of Cayenne Tincture.  No one hits the floor with a mouth full of Cayenne.  Cayenne moves blood quickly clearing any blockage carrying oxygen rich blood to the affected areas.

Constricted breathing, asthmatic conditions will end with the next intake of breath when using Lobelia.

Lobelia is also natural healing first aid for muscle spasms, Charlie horses, cramps ect.. relief is normally found in five to fifteen minutes.

Keep your Cayenne and Lobelia handy when detoxing they work quickly often preventing a bump in the road from becoming a crisis.

Hormonal Support for Women’s Hair Loss

friendsHair loss is the first symptom of hormonal imbalance for many women.  Sometime between thirty-five and forty-five most women will notice their hair beginning to thin.  This natural thinning can become alarming when a simple brush stroke produces a hand full of hair.  Very few of us can afford to drag our feet, something must be done quickly.

Balancing the Hormones will normally put a quick end to hair shedding issues for most women.  Below is a Natural hormone balancing program.  Over the past 20 years I’ve seen these Herbal Supports quickly clear hot flashes, night sweats, hair loss issues, PMS, ect…

Female Formula: 1 ½ teaspoons daily.

This can be broken down to three ½ teaspoon portions for those experiencing hot flashes and night sweats.

Use ½ tsp. in the morning and the rest can be used before problem times during the day.  An example would be if you have late afternoon hot flashes take the lion’s share of your dose in the early afternoon.  This will ensure a good amount of the herbal support in the blood when most needed.

When night sweats are an issue take a dose at bedtime.

Those not experiencing these issues can take the full dose of 1 ½ teaspoons in the morning.

Bringing Balance through Liver Flushing

Juice Fasting and Flushing the Liver area equivalent to hitting the restart button on life.  When the body is out of whack a good week of liver flushing will aid in rebalancing the systems as it clears a good layer of toxins from the body.  Doing an ELF, (Emergency Liver Flush), once or twice a week until all issues have cleared will continue to be helpful.

Changease Formula

The Changease can be added when some menopausal symptoms persist even after doing the program above.  Changease is a hormonal food formula providing the additional nutrients needed by the body to support the hormones during the last stages of menopause. This formula is normally used along with the Female Formula.

Making an Herbal Salve

Making Salve pouringToday let’s put something together for those brave souls willing to advance into salve making.  Over the years many of our members have asked for a good set of directions.

The Salves made by HEAL are done by extracting the properties of the herbs into extra virgin olive oil then hardening the oil with a bit of bees wax.  The salves can then be used to saturate the area needing support with the herbal nutrients by way of the skin.  Drinking a supporting herbal extract in water or juice three to five times a day will work in addition to the salve to aid in clearing the condition.

To begin the process one will need three equal amounts of the herb or herb mix to be extracted into the olive oil.  The larger the amounts of herbs the more salve you will be able to make.  Three 8 oz portions of herbs will extract into around 70 ounces of the olive oil.  The three packs of herbs will be extracted one after the other into the same oil.  This is called making a salve to the 7th powder.  When this triple extraction process is completed I don’t believe the oil could hold more nutrients.

Use a dehydrator oven set to 150 degrees.

Mix the first pack of herbs into the amount of oil you will be using.  This is the only time you will add oil to the process, be generous but at the same time don’t over dilute the herbs.  Depending on the type of herbs in the formula the amount of oil used can be increased or decreased.  A good rule of thumb is the use of between 8-9 oz Extra Virgin Olive Oil per 1 oz dry herb or herb mix.

Set pan with oil and herb mix in the oven for three hours at 150 degrees

Remove hot oil mix from oven and strain through wire mesh strainer.  Allow the oil to drip from the loose herbs for an hour or so to ensure as much of the oil has been recaptured as possible.  Do not use any cloth material when straining out the herbs as it will absorb a large amount of your oil.

Add second herb pack into oil and return to dehydrator over for another 3 hours at 150 degrees.

Remove Hot Oil –Strain out used Herbs—Add Third Pack and return to over for another three hours.

Your oil is now finished.  You can use the oil as is or continue on to thicken it into a slave.

Adding the Bees Wax

When adding the Bees Wax you will need the following items:

  • Bees Wax: The amount used will depend on how much oil is being processed.
  • Two Cooking Thermometers
  • Small pot for melting wax
  • Pot for warming oil
  • Salve Jars
  • Turkey baster for transferring the liquid salve to the jars

Pour the nutrient rich oil into large pot and warm to no more than 150 degrees.  Ensure this with the cooking thermometer.

Pour an amount of bees wax into small pot and heat until liquid.  This will be well over 200 degrees when melted.  Allow wax to cool to at least 180 degrees before mixing with the 150 degree, cooler oil or the wax will clump instead of mixing throughout the oil mix.

Start by mixing only a small amount of wax into the oil mixture.  Now sprinkle a few drops on a cool surface to see the consistency.  You are looking for something a bit firmer than Vaseline.  If after the drops have cooled properly they are not quite firm enough then add a bit more wax.  Remember adding more is easy, removal when too much has been added is impossible.  Take your time with the process.

When the salve consistency is correct here is a tip for quick wax clean up.

Line a storage container with foil and pour any left-over wax from the pot into the storage container.  After removing as much of the left over wax as possible from the hot pot add 1 or 2 cups of the oil into the wax pot.  Swish the oil around to absorb the residue of the wax from the sides of the pot.  Pour oil back.  The wax pot should now clean easily with soap and water.

Use your turkey baster to transfer the hot liquid into your salve jars.

Cover jars with clean towel; leave lids off unto completely cooled: Overnight is good.

Label and enjoy.  Store in cool room or fridge.

Organic Minerals Only

chapparalOne of the most amazing discoveries about chaparral is that it contains a tremendous amount of Manganese, copper, and zinc.

These are organic, living, readily assimilable minerals—not the deadly inorganic type that you can purchase in tablets at the local vitamin store.

While the inorganic minerals may have an immediate reaction on the human system, they only serve to mask the problem while temporarily alleviating the symptoms. These inorganics are only a crutch which will lead to greater problems later as organs are weakened from the deadly residue they leave behind.

The organic forms of minerals found in fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds (this list includes the herbs) are the only type of minerals we need in our bodies. We have repeated this principle many times. The point needs to be understood that people have to use organic minerals. Only plant life can utilize the inorganics.

Even though this fact has been presented again and again, we still see folks eating rock tablets for calcium supplements and heavy metals for the rest of their minerals. Once they understand the truth of the matter, they will stop doing damage to their bodies.

Using Herbs Topically

Salve on Flannel

Taking the best herbal support will avail nothing if the nutrient rich food is unable to travel to and through the affected area.  Good Circulation ensures adequate nutrients into the areas needing healing and the removal of waste for disposal through the kidneys and liver.  During each cycle through the damaged or sick area the blood drops off the incoming load of nutrients while reloading with wastes up for removal from the system.

Applying nutrient rich salves, poultices, and lotions over an affected area is an excellent way to speed-up the healing process.  The purpose of any topical application is to saturate the affected area with the nutrients needed to best affect the sick area.   Often the use of hydrotherapy is applied to blast through the blockage enabling the healing herbs to reach the sick or injured area.  Hydrotherapy can be enhanced through the topical use of herbal stimulants which encourage the circulation of nutrient and oxygen rich blood through the damaged or sick area.

Fomentation 4

Fomentation’s have been used for centuries to encourage circulation and the saturation of needed nutrients into an ailing area or body system.  H.E.A.L. has found the use of Salves effective while being much less messy or time consuming.  In the salve we have a concentration of nutrients which when applied quickly penetrate sending their powerful healing aids deep into the affected area.

A second type of topical application is one that draws infection directly from the body.  Depending on the type of poultice used these may be applied hot or at normal room temperature.

Castor oil packs break up congestion in the body.  Castor Oil is an excellent aid for breaking up congestion in the Liver or Bowel.  It is also useful in dissolving tumorous growths in the body.

Any topical application of herbs will prove more effective when used in conjunction with the internal herbal supports and nutrition.  The Bowels must be open and working well, the immune system must be well boosted, and the blood loaded with nutrition from fresh juices and superfoods if the body is to do its part in the healing process.

Liver Flushing Children

sick child in bedThe SAD food program being consumed is seriously beginning to affect our children.  Health issues that used to be reserved for the middle aged are creeping into the preteen child.

The question has now been posed.  How young is too young to liver flush?

My answer is given along with a caution to remember that a child is to be handled with loving care.  Liver Flushing is a powerful healing tool but at the same time not the most pleasant of experiences.   When dealing with an immature mind that is unable to grasp the concepts involved it is best to make cleansing a party event.  The child will drink most anything if presented in the right way.  Make cleansing fun, do it with the child taking pains to keep the mood light and happy.

A child off the breast eating solid food can be flushed.  Unless there are physical issues requiring attention such as hives, for example, flushing a child this young is not something I would suggest.

Regular cleansing and liver flushing can begin when the child is between 2 and 4 years old.  Again I caution don’t overdo the cleansing on a small child.  Maybe, once a year have a liver cleansing party for the whole family, (and friends, these are truly special people).

The instructions for doing an ELF are in our Liver-flushing E-Book and available on Video in our Members area.  Here are a few suggestions for E.L.F.ing a child.

The only precondition for doing any type of Liver Flushing is THE BOWELS MUST BE OPEN and working well.  If necessary do an enema on the child.

Start out light.  A small child of 2 years would use around 2 oz of Olive oil and 2 oz Grapefruit juice.  This would equate to the adult dose of 8 oz Olive oil and 8 oz Grapefruit juice.

The first flush on such a little system might be better done with 1 oz or 1.5 oz of oil with the juice.  If the issue is serious enough to need to flush such a little person the flushing will likely need to be repeated. Start out with the smaller amount and see how the child responds to the work being done.

For the older child around 50 pounds give 1/3 the adult dose.  Normally round the weight to the nearest 25 pound mark for easier dosing.   The adult weight is set at 150 pounds.  A child of 75 lbs. would receive half the adult dose, or 4 ounces of olive oil in 4 oz grapefruit juice.

This rule can be applied, when dosing children, to all the herbal supports.

The child will look to the adult’s reaction when deciding how acceptable something, if the adults will keep a happy expression making a game out of it the child will go along easily.

What is Real Food?

The body will keep us alive and healthy provided that we feed it “Real Food”. Real food is a food which is compatible with the body; that in no way takes from the body, but lends itself to the building up of health and maintaining life. It contains nothing that is harmful, toxic or non-usable by the body.

Real Food is defined for us by Nature as follows:

1) Something edible grown by Nature of the Plant Kingdom.
2) Food which can be eaten without processing in any way.
3) Food which comes to us from Nature as “complete packages”, that is, they contain naturally everything in them necessary for the body to process and assimilate that food.

Why Do We Eat Food?

The only qualities of food which the body requires in a complete package are the following:

GLUCOSE, PROTEIN, FATTY ACIDS, MINERALS, ENZYMES, WATER

If all of these components are in the food, the food is complete. If any of these are missing, the food is not “Real Food”.

Real Food is provided by Nature in this form as raw fruits and vegetables. Raw fruits and vegetables contain all of the parts mentioned above. If food has been processed, cooked or altered in any way so as to change or eliminate any of the above ingredients, it is no longer “Real Food” as far as the Human Body is concerned.

PLANTS ARE THE SOURCE OF REAL FOOD FOR ALL LIFE FORMS

photosynthesis-colorThe plant kingdom utilizes sunshine, carbon dioxide, oxygen, water and organic minerals in the process of photosynthesis to feed itself and grow. The result is a living plant (food for animal consumption) containing: Glucose, Protein, Fatty Acids, Organic Minerals, Organic Enzymes (vitamins), Water (pure)

Inorganic Mineral from the Earth + Photosynthesis = Organic Minerals from Plants which provide Protein and Enzymes for animals and humans.

The animal kingdom does not possess the ability to perform photosynthesis, therefore must rely on the plant kingdom to prepare its food.

Any form of processing nature’s foods (such as pasteurization, cooking, adding preservatives, etc.) breaks the bonds between the food components and their attached enzymes as well as destroys the enzyme. The result is inorganic or denatured food components and thus inorganic food.

The enzyme must be alive and attached to the mineral or food component in order for the body to utilize it. The enzyme acts as a “passport” to get the mineral into the cell of the body and aids in the cell’s utilization of that mineral. Raw foods are living and thus produce life in the body; because they have intact enzymes they are organic. Enzymes are catalysts – substances which help the body work more efficiently in utilizing food for life maintaining purposes.

An example of an inorganic substance is table salt. It is simply sodium and chloride. No enzymes, thus it is dead and the body cannot use it. Our bodies cannot attach an enzyme to inorganic substances, except at great cost. It is only the plant kingdom, through the process of photosynthesis that can attach enzymes to inorganics and make them living or organic.

The more we process a food, the less nutrient value it retains. This is because living foods are organic foods. Processed foods, to various degrees, are inorganic or “dead” foods.

The following is the hierarchy of food preparation starting at the top with no preparation leaving the food with its full nutrient content, ending at the bottom with the most processing, rendering the food dead and useless to the body – little or no nutrient value retained:

RAW and WHOLE JUICED and consumed immediately once the skin of fruits or vegetables is broken, oxygen combines with the enzymes and kills them (this process is called “oxidation”)

DEHYDRATED or DRIED loses 2-5% of nutrient value dried without chemicals or additives commercial brands of dried fruit contain sulfur dioxide; exception: raisins)

FROZEN freshly picked and frozen immediately loses 5-30% of nutrient value

STEAMED loses 15 – 60% of nutrient value steamed means the green bean is still a bit crispy (if it’s limp, its cooked)

COOKED baked, broiled, boiled, grilled, steamed too long, home canned the green bean is limp loses 40 -100% of nutrient value, depending on how long it is cooked

COOKED LEFTOVERS MICRO WAVED Loses 90 – 99% of nutrient value

COMMERCIALLY CANNED FOODS– FRIED FOODS– FOODS with ADDITIVES These not only lose 100% of their nutrient value, but have toxins added to them

THE TEN MOST IMPORTANT HERBS

There are well over three hundred thousand herbs–many of them have been life-savers over the years.  Can we, then, find the “Ten Most Important”, which should be kept on hand at all times for health or survival emergencies?  This is a hard one–choosing the names of ten of my top friends, our herbs.  Perhaps the best way to proceed is to choose one herb from each of ten major herb categories of which there are many more.

Hippocrates used twenty-nine herbs and their combinations to help keep the people of the Isle of Cos in a healthy condition.  In our practice we use approximately one hundred common herbs to take care of any malfunction that has been brought to our attention.  We will, therefore offer you a tithe of our herbs.  One herb cannot be said to be superior to another, as each has its own specific use, so we will list the categories from which each herb was selected alphabetically.

Conclusion

These ten herbs may be stored in any number of forms, bulk, capsules, tablet, tincture, concentrate, etc.  Tinctures, syrups, concentrates and ointments if properly sealed can last twenty or more years and not lose potency.  The bulk dry herbs should be put into cans such as the type in which bulk honey is often sold.  The lid should be pressed in tightly and sealed carefully with a paraffin wax.  All stored herbs should be sealed in this way with paraffin.

The diaphoretic herbs are the ones to be collected in the largest amounts.  A pound per person of these herbs in their dry form is not out of line.

If the dry herbs, capsules or tablets can be sealed hermetically so much the better.  It would be wise to store the seeds from as many of these herbs as possible.  Label them well and seal them up for use in times of natural disaster.

Cleansing & Flushing, Herbal Healing, My Opinion

Liver Flushing- The Preparation

liver flush drinkDoing anything well requires a bit of groundwork and understanding.  Liver flushing is no exception.  Understanding what the liver flush is to accomplish and how best to prepare for this work can be as important as the process itself.

Liver Flushing, put very simply, is the process of changing out your internal vacuum cleaner’s bag.  The liver is the vacuum cleaner of the entire body.  If there is waste needing to be cleared the liver is what will be doing the work.  When there is injury or disease the liver is hard at work clearing out the old diseased or injured material while the body is working to heal and rebuild.   Massive nutrition along with good steady flushing of the bowels, liver and Kidneys will support the body as it does the innate work of self-healing.

Supporting the Process

The Bowels must be open and working well before any type of liver flushing can be attempted.  The problem is many of us think we are doing just fine in this area when in fact our bowels are actually backed up.  One bowel movement a day is not enough.  A good functioning bowl will move upon rising and after every meal. This is how the body was made to function.  The liver is working through the night filling the bowel with waste which begs to be eliminated shortly after rising each morning.

When a meal is consumed the process of chewing and swallowing initiates the peristaltic motion of the intestines and bowels.  This symmetrical contraction and relaxation creates a waving motion which moves the food through the digestive tract, the small intestines and colon.

Current Meal: The meal being consumed is moved to the stomach and small intestine where it will be broken down and the nutrients absorbed.

Last Meal: The meal from before is moved from the small intestine to the colon, where absorption of nutrients continues and the excess water is resorbed.

Two Meals Back: The meal from before this one will be eliminated within an hour or so of eating.

Using the Lower Bowel Formula #1 will ensure the bowels are working well.  Once you have established good daily movements it is time to begin liver flushing.  To ensure the bowels are truly working well The Prune Juice Flush is an excellent one day program for clearing any lingering waste in the bowel.

Food Program

Leading up to the Liver Flushing Program a normal healthy food program can be maintained.  Consuming two or three 8 oz glasses of apple juice each day for the preceding five days will aid in softening the waste in the liver.  These glasses of apple juice should be consumed alone, between meals.  During the week or days of liver flushing the best food program is Juice fasting or Raw food only.  (See the liver flushing E-book and Video in Member’s area for details.)
